What should coolant temp be on Pentastar V6?
So…I would like to know specifically once warmed up what should the Pentastar V6 3.6L run at on flat road at 75MPH with an outside air temp between 32 and 48 degrees F. I know the road conditions (flat, mountains etc) and temp can affect the coolant temp.
How does the outside temp affect the coolant?
The outside temp has no effect on the coolant temp once warmed up. The thermostat regulates coolant temp regardless if it is -20 out or 120 out. The coolant temp sensor measures the temp off the coolant in the engine not the radiator. Here is the description from chrysler
What should the coolant gauge needle sit in?
Where should the coolant gauge needle sit (3/8, 4/8, what?). Thanks for using JustAnswer!. If you live in a cold climate then the gauge reads fine, 190-200 f . If the climate is warm, it should be around 210 f that would be between the half mark and 3/4’s.Again if the climate is cold, an increase in the fuel consumption is normal.
Why do we get in stop and go traffic?
What we have found in common is that each time it starts to overheat, we are in stop and go traffic. It has always been hot outside too (but it is summer). When we begin to move at a regular pace, the car temp goes down. I live in a city, so it is impossible not to get in stop and go traffic on a regular basis.
