What does droning noise coming from rear of car mean?

Where does the droning noise come from in a Vauxhall?
I have checked around the tyres etc and also checked tyre pressures but to no avail I cant pinpoint where its coming from as it sounds like passenger side to me and drivers side to the wife but im actually thinking along the lines of a wheel bearing but not sure any ideas?? Classic sound of a wheel bearing gone .

As usual I just ignored her however when I got off the motorway the car was making an horrendous droaning / humming noise, its coming from the front and is most prevalent around 2,000 – 3,000 rpm. I’ve just been back out in it whilst the engines cold. The noise is still there and appears past 10mph onwards…

What’s the best way to make a droning noise?
Place your hands on either side of the wheel and rock the wheel sideways with you hands at 9 and 3 o’clock, and then 12 and 6 o’clock respectively. There should be no play clicking or slop.
Where does the buzzing sound come from in a car?
It feels a little like it’s coming from the front of the car, but the other day I could swear it seemed to be coming a little more from the rear. Since it only happens at 45+ MPH, and is fairly quiet to begin with, listening from outside the car is not an option and it gets drowned out by the wind when the windows are down.
