How common is AP Scholar with Distinction?
Nationwide, only about 10% of students earn the distinction of AP Scholar or higher by the time they graduate. We are thrilled to share some of the top accomplishments here: 70 of our high school students were awarded AP Scholar distinctions, representing approximately 63% of our high school.
Is the AP Scholar Award a big deal?
Admissions officers instead look at other factors, which means that all the hard work students have put in to earn AP Scholar awards mean less. Even without AP Scholar awards, taking AP courses can still be really beneficial to college admissions, and doing well on exams can save you money in college.
How do you know if you’re an AP Scholar?
AP Scholar – Awarded to students who score 3 or more on at least three AP exams. AP Scholar with Honor – Awarded to students who have averaged a minimum of 3.25 on the AP exams they take and score 3 or more on at least four of those exams.

Do colleges care about AP awards?
“The Dean” will answer the last part of your question first because it’s the easiest: Colleges don’t care AT ALL about AP awards. These awards, which you can read about here, simply indicate that a student has earned a certain exam score on a certain number of tests.
Should I send my AP scores to colleges?
In general, you should send your scores no later than July of your senior year of high school. When you designate a college/university to receive your scores, they’ll receive your entire score report from all AP Exams you’ve taken throughout high school unless you’ve requested scores be withheld or canceled.
Does honor roll count as an award?
Examples of academic awards include, but are not limited to: Any “honor society” such as, International Thespian Society, National Honor Society, etc. Honor Roll.
Does being an AP Scholar help?
If you have an AP Scholar award, you can list it on resumes and college applications. It will signal that you did well on multiple AP exams. The designation will appear on your official AP exam scores, and you will receive a certificate in the mail the September following the time you receive the designation.

Are they discontinuing AP Scholar?
As we do our part to reduce the burden on students, the AP Program is discontinuing awards that encourage students to take large numbers of exams. Starting with the May 2021 Exam Administration, we will no longer distribute National AP Scholar awards—including the awards for students in Canada and Bermuda.
