In all seriousness though, as a backup for your woodshop, or an additional tool when using more than one person for a carpentry project, the ShopSmith Mark V fits the bill. It performs. And in the end, that’s all I care about.

The only time someone should consider a shopsmith is if they have a very small space to work in and a lot of free time for set up. For the price of a new shopsmith its not worth it’s short comings. I have not seen the newest model but I’m pretty sure the table saw table still tilts not the blade am I wrong? I agree with most of the previous posts.

Are there any improvements to the ShopSmith woodshop?
It offered a larger main table, extension wings with legs, a geared “rack and pinon” mechanism for raising and lowering the table, an improved fence, and a “second” quill bearing to reduce load on the quill. However, I quickly out grew the capacities and design flaws of the Shopsmith.
