Why would Piston hit spark plug?
When a timing belt slips, it can easily take out a valve and leave it sitting on top of the piston. Then on the next rotation, the piston(s) has a nice sized foreign object to force right into the spark plug.
What causes lean spark plug?
Your engine runs lean if your air-to-fuel mixture is too light – this means that the fuel in your ignition chamber is being igniting with too much air or too little fuel. Your engine running lean is always a symptom of another problem – it could be a dirty MAF sensor, a damaged oxygen sensor, or damaged fuel injectors.
Can the piston hit the spark plug?
If you threw a rod the piston could move up and hit the plug but it would be very loud and probably punch out the block. The wrong spark plug could be your culprit. However if you pt new plug in and it still does not fire you’ve got bigger problems. Detonation is possible and will cause your spark plug to look damaged.

If you need to install a new ignition coil, just slide it down into the spark plug hole. You should feel a click as it snaps onto the spark plug. Reattach and tighten the bolt. Then reconnect the electrical plug. That’s it. Now you just have to repeat these steps for the other spark plugs and coils.
Where are the spark plugs in a Toyota?
Spark plugs are a serviceable, yet extremely important, part of your Toyota’s engine. They sit inside the cylinder head where they create the spark that ignites fuel — the combustion that enables your engine to run. Spark plugs that have outlived their time will cause misfires in your engine — robbing it of efficiency and performance.
What causes oil to get on spark plug?
The only somewhat related issue I had was a leaking valve cover gasket at 90k that caused oil to get on one of the plugs. Flint Sage [OP] likes this.
