Where is a vacuum leak on a car?
In most cars, it’s connected to the engine intake and is operated by the engine vacuum. Inside the brake booster, there is a vacuum diaphragm. When a brake booster leaks, it creates a vacuum leak.
Where does the vacuum line go in a truck?
If the truck has a vacuum hose to the transmission (to the vacuum modulator), the line will be a metal tube attached to the large tube that the transmission dipstick is in. It will come up and connect to a hose that will run to the base of the carburetor.
Where is the vacuum hose on a GMC Truck?
Its the silver line next to the trans dipstick tube The year range is pretty non specific. What is the hose coming out of the top of the transmi?
Fluid is full. I noticed a small hose coming out of the transmission that goes straight up and curves over. It is not connected to anything at the other end. It was loose. It looks like it should clip into the side of the air filter box. I can’t see anything it should connect to. Is this correct? What is this hose for? My car has 20000 miles.
What happens if the vacuum hose is missing from the transmission?
The transmission will work without this line, but the shifts will be hard as if the throttle was all the way to the floor. If the hose is broken or missing, there will also be a vacuum leak at the carburetor, causing a rough/high idle and possible an intermittent backfire.
