Why is my key fob not detected on my car?
In order to unlock the car, I would have to press the unlock button on the fob about 30 times before it finally worked. When I would try to start the car, I would always get the ‘Key Fob Not Detected’ message. The only way I could start the car was with direct contact between the key and ignition button.
Why is the proximity entry on my key fob not working?
About a year ago, I got the notice that the battery in my keyfob was low, so I replaced it with a brand new #2032 battery. Ever since then, then proximity entry stopped working.

Oh and your not stranded if the battery dies, you can start the car by simply holding your foot on the brake and pressing the key against the push button (toyo symbol facing it) until it beeps. Then your set. No need to keep a spare battery.
