How long does it take for an Evo motor to dry?
I have around a 1990 80″ EVO motor on a custom chopper i built. I can fill my primary with 1.5 qrts and in twenty minutes time the primary will be dry. The primary oil is pulled into the motor oil system and overflows out the crankcase vent.

The Evo’s don’t have heat problems, don’t have chains or belts in the timing chest that can do really bad things internally, don’t have problems with the crank, or the main bearings, don’t have problems with the comp sprocket, etc, etc. Can you tell which one I prefer? Why are my base gaskets leaking on my Evo?
The evo’s had this weakness in the cylinder base gaskets and many had to change them because of seepage. I don’t think that the excess oil had much to do with it. They eliminated this weakness with an “O” ring type of seal in the newer TC engines.

Take your light and mirror and look up the back of the inner primary where the drive sprocket is located . When that seal leaks it leaves a trail of oil down the back out the front and drips near the drain plug as that’s the lowest point when the bike is on the side stand . Very common leak !
