Why does my Jeep Cherokee have a vibration?
A vibration that occurs within a specified speed range is not caused by a propeller shaft being unbalanced. Defective U-joints or incorrect propeller shaft angle are usually the cause”. It appears that I have the incorrect angle. My question is, what can cure this and how involved is it?

Love the Jeep Hate the Vibrations. The low pitched rumbling and vibrations startsat 70 mph, worst at 75mmph, gone by 80mph. Definitely worse when going uphill, when they can start at 60 – 65. The dealer replaced the driveshaft — no change at all. I have a Laredo and I think the wheels are aluminum. Any other ideas?

So after work today I went on some spirited driving and and finally hit the sweet spot of that Damn 70 mph vibration and surprise the vibration is all gone. I also did some nice rips up to 130 mph and my rig is solid and driving like it never did before.

What’s the Sye kit for a Jeep Cherokee?
Click to expand… Basically what the SYE kit does is change the rear output shaft of the transfer case (it does nothing on the axle end but you do need to shim it to adjust to the new angles) and allows you to run a 3-joint driveshaft, which handles steeper angles better than a traditional 2-joint shaft (stock).
