Why does my Yamaha Kodiak have no spark?
The main switch on the handlebars is a negative switch, so would be no power for the on/off or start button. The cdi box is brand new and it does not have 12 volt power (red wire) going to it. I thought it would get DC current from the pickup or stator could but i am not reading any, and thats with the old stator and the new rm stator.

What was the issue with my 1999 Kodiak 400?
This and foremost I am working on a 1999 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4×4 (Standard) (YFM400FWB-L)……. My friend dropped it off asking for me to look at it. Now the issue was that some of the wires were melted in the ATV and from what I can recall it was mostly ground wires.
Is the Kodiak 400 CVT the same generation as the ATV?
Mite be wrong but I don’t think this atv is at all the same generation as yours. This is the old Gen air cooled, 5 speed 400 kodiak, and not the later Gen liquid cooled cvt 400 kodiaks. That is where I am doing a lot of guessing but the function of getting a spark should be generally the same.
How to troubleshoot a Yamaha Kodiak 450 ignition system?
Purchase an in-line spark tester and throw it on to see how your spark is doing. Last thing is your pick up coil gap. Take a look at that and see what the spec is in the manual. Check the gap you have and compare the two. Oh gosh. This is homework for me. Never really caught on to the electrical side of atvs..

Are there carb rebuild kits for Yamaha Kodiak 450?
Yamaha didn’t offer carb rebuild kits, just individual parts I believe….they’re expensive but usually worth it! Sounds like you may have a problem with the needle & nozzle alright. That would explain the over fueling and also why the adjustment screw doesn’t do much.
