Why does my KLR 650 backfire?
Any misconnected or leaking carb vacuum hoses can also encourage backfiring. That means the carb fuel mixture is also slightly leaner, more prone to backfiring. Putting the hoses back correctly may help with the backfiring without having to adjust the idle screw or pilot screw.

Dunno wtf it is about klrs in my area but you can rarely find one with over 10,000 miles. Just messaged a guy who is selling a 2014 klr650 with 2000 miles for $4000 hope he gets back to me. Where? Lower mileage is always better but I have an 05 DRZ400SM, it had 61,000 miles and is still running strong. I would expect a longer life out of the KLR

What’s the life expectancy of a KLR bike?
Found some clean klr’s on Craigslist, one from 2000 with 45k miles, another 2005 with 50k. Wondering what the life expectancy is on these bikes. Should I be looking for something newer with less miles, or will a bike with these numbers hold me through for a while?
