The GSR originally opened in 1978 as the MGM Grand-Reno under the ownership of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. After changing its name to Bally’s Reno, the Hilton Hotel Corp. purchased and changed the name of the property to Reno Hilton in 1992.

Welcoming the MGM Grand Reno The MGM Grand Hotel & Casino opened in Reno on May 3, 1978. Modeled after the famous MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the original 26 story, 1,015 room property was at the time one of the largest in the world.
How is GSR tested?
Gun shot residue is tested by lifting samples off a defendant’s hands or clothing and then testing to see if the lifts contain a fused particle of barium, antimony, and lead, which are known to be present in GSR. A positive GSR test result does not necessarily mean that a defendant has fired a gun.
What is GSR used for?
A GSR sensor allows us to measure sweat gland activity, which is related to emotional arousal. To measure GSR, we take advantage of the electrical properties of the skin.
