How hard is it to change wiring harness?
If the wiring harness in question is located in a tough-to-reach area, the technician may need to disassemble parts of the vehicle to gain access. In other words, installing a wiring harness could take as little as an hour, as long as 20 hours, or longer if complications arise.
How do you test a power wiring harness?
Touch the black (negative) lead to bare metal on the vehicle and then touch the red (positive) lead to the wires in the harness that need to be tested. Turn the vehicle to the “ACC” position with the key. Observe the reading on the meter. It should read within the 11-16 volt range; most commonly, 12-13.3.
Where can I buy a wiring harness for my car?
You can also purchase additional wiring harnesses if your vehicle had factory-installed (not dealer installed or aftermarket) options. For example: air conditioning, power windows, rear window defogger, power top, etc. These additional harnesses will plug directly into the main harnesses as they did at the factory.
