How do I know if my radiator is air locked?
Signs and symptoms of radiator airlock include:
- Overheating during normal driving.
- Heater not functioning correctly.
- Reduced performance.
- Radiator leakage / losing coolant quickly.
What causes car airlock?
Vapor lock happens when your fuel boils in your carburetor or your fuel line. Vaporized fuel creates back pressure in your fuel system and prevents gas from getting to your engine. It commonly occurs when a car has been idling or has been turned off and then back on.
Why does my Nissan Pulsar make a dull noise?
If the noise sounds like a dull thud or knock from deep within the engine, then I have bad news. Something inside the engine is probably trying to get out. And if it does, the engine will be instantly turned to junk. The worse news is that it probably already is (junk) even though it’s still running, because the damage has already been done.
Why does my N16 Pulsar not start properly?
When the idle control valve dies in a Nissan N16 it can also screw the ECU (which was the case for me). The mechanics replaced the Idle control valve but there were problems with the electronics and engine wouldn’t start properly. They tested the ECU and the diagnostic tool was unable to connect with the ECU to obtain data from it.
What to do if your Nissan Pulsar Idles?
You will need a new throttle body assembly. The throttle body becomes porous where coolant seeps through and shorts out the idle motor, which in turn blows the ECU. If you remove the case from the ECU, you should be able to see a ‘burn’ mark on the board. If it isn’t so bad, it can be repaired.
Why does my Nissan Pulsar have no air heater?
Nissan Pulsar 2004 1.8 Sedan. A few days ago, for an unknown reason, the top of the radiator (the plastic top) cracked. Replaced radiator; new coolant. Drove about 80kms fine, without issue. Now, after about 15 minutes, the cabin air heater (on high) suddenly stops blowing hot air, and the engine temp jumps up to red.
