Why do Harleys sound like they are misfiring?
Harley’s engine is designed in the shape of a V and the crankshaft has only one pin, attached to both pistons. That means that both spark plugs fire simultaneously and there is a brief pause after the second fire, instead of firing at even intervals. This also accounts for the popping noises a Harley makes at idle.

After about 15 mins she showed up and said her bike would not stay running. At each stop, it would stall but would always start after the fact. It died in the driveway. We tried to troubleshoot the problem but have been unsuccessful so far. Checked the fuel pump, getting gas, changed the plugs and checked the wires for leaks, no leaks.

It turned out the battery to be the problem. The reason its intermittent is the bike will start running weird in other words it would take a charge but if for some reason that charge did not hold for long the bike will start running weird again. So I went and change the battery and I’ve never had the problem since.
