Why does my Silverado not Rev at 4000 rpm?

Why does my Silverado not Rev at 4000 rpm?

At 1500 RPM, it puts up 20-21 in-hg of vacuum. At 3000 RPM, it puts up ~18.5 in-hg of vacuum. It will not rev above 4000 rpm sitting in park!! If I apply more throttle, the revs will actually drop to 3800, as if a load were being applied by a dyno, and the engine will start to ping.

Why does my car engine not Rev at 2500 rpm?

You said you already covered replacing that mass air flow sensor though. Another cause of this is a bad ground to the mass airflow sensor. The wire that goes directly from the mass airflow sensor to the next connection may have a bad ground to it. You may have to replace it.

What’s the rev limit on a Silverado truck?

The truck starts and idles fine. Put it into gear and accelerate, you have to give it a significant amount of throttle to get it up to speed. If you put it to the floor, it won’t rev beyond 4000 RPM. At ~2500 RPM with only enough throttle to maintain speed (transmission manually shifted to 3rd gear), it will surge and hunt.

When does a Chevy Silverado have no power?

If you put it to the floor, it won’t rev beyond 4000 RPM. At ~2500 RPM with only enough throttle to maintain speed (transmission manually shifted to 3rd gear), it will surge and hunt. In OD at 55 mph (engine speed below 2000), it runs smoothly but has no power to run up hill or into a head wind.

Why does my car not Rev past 1, 500 rpm?

It won’t rev past 1,500 and then only at half throttle. When I am running 1,500 rpm and mash it, the engine drops to a constant 1,000 rpm. I have to let it idle and then ease into it again to get it up to 1,500 again.

Can a group 11 car go over 3000 rpm?

As a general rule of thumb, if it’s requiring more than 40-50% duty cycle in group 11 wot 3000 rpm then chances are you are on your way to getting plugged up. Yep, if they sit for a few weeks or longer they are finished. I bought a car way back, like 05′ or so that had been sitting since 01′. The cat was like a brick.

What to do if your car wont go over 2500rpm?

Problem : no power, will not rev past 2500rpm, won’t go over 20mph! What I’ve tried: new MAF, MAP has normal output (0- 14psi), new turbo and vnt actuator, tested N75 valve, cleaned out intake manifold, pump and injectors work (spray into open air), fuel supply appears to be unrestricted (vacum gauge, inline between filter and pump, reads 8).

Why does my car not Rev above 2500rpm?

Well, as unbelievable as it may seem, after having the car (’82 GT with a 4bbl Holley) for almost a month, I just revved the engine above 2500RPM today. I was sitting in the garage with the car running thinking over my exhaust problem and decided to rev the engine up near the redline to see how it handled it.

Why does my jettachero not Rev at 2500 rpm?

It’s usually caused by a blockage in the intake anyway, whether it’s because the turbo has broken it’s shaft, someone has left a rag or there’s just a bit of whatever stuck in there it’s definitely up there as one of the main causes. ’00 Golf 4dr White 5sp, ’02 Jettachero 5sp, Wife’s ’03 NB Platinum Gray auto (!)

Why does my car not Rev at 3000 rpm?

I was sitting in the garage with the car running thinking over my exhaust problem and decided to rev the engine up near the redline to see how it handled it. As it reaches about 2800-3000 RPM it starts to stumble and fluctuate and wont rev any higher.

What to do if your Silverado has no power?

Check your fuel pressure with a gauge. Still could be the mafs though like you thought. Try unpluging it and see if anything changes. Try giving it a good cleaning too. Then check the vacuum line to the map sensor. If it’s got vacuum then the map sensor itself may be bad. I would lean toward fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator or the pump.
