The message is advisory, not a warning of something wrong. The batteries charge state is accessed and if there is not enough charge the ESS is turned off to allow the battery’s to charge up. Cause while you use the ESS it drains the battery’s while the engine is off.

I bought a 2017 jgc limited 2 weeks ago. It has 31,500 miles. This weekend, the ‘service shifter’ warning came on, the engine would not start, the ignition stayed on and would not turn off though the engine wasn’t running. The shifter lights flashed continuously, the warning screen flashed through several warnings continuously all night.
