When did sandrail fabricators start building sand rails?
We are a family own and operated company. Established in 1998 SandRail Fabricators is dedicated to build sand rails that are built better than all of our competition’s sand rails.
How did the sand rail get its name?
Sand rails do not start their life off as a streetcar. They start off their lives a pile of tube steel! In fact, they get their name from the tubular steel rails that they are made from. Sand rails are custom built from the ground up. Their design, layout, and construction are all up to the builder.
Is it legal to buy a sandrail dune buggy?
In many states, dune buggies and sandrails can be made street legal. *Check with your local DMV for applicable laws and requirements. Deciding which use you intend your buggy for will guide your decision making process along the way.
Can you paint a sand rail buggy by hand?
Sanding by hand and painting by brush is time-consuming but allows me to go slow. I can mask as I go and paint small portions of the buggy at any given time. I completed hand-sanding and painting the remaining (rear) section of the buggy by brush, including the recent suspension work and tubing around the engine.
What do I need to build a sandrail 101?
For all kits, you’ll need a welder (preferably MIG or TIG), a level, tape measure, and a 4 1/2” angle grinder. Knockdown: Our “ knockdown ” kits (2 seat Warrior and 4 seat Cruiser) are by far the most economical to buy and ship, but require the most assembly.
