Why is my Polaris Sportsman bogging down on the road?
I just bought a used 500 1998 model with no history.After cleaning carb and new plug it starts and idles fine. On the road when you hit 15 mph it just looses power. It doesn’t slow down but just acts like it is in too high of gear.
How long does a Polaris ATV run before it dies?
It runs about 10 minutes, dies. The really weird part is that if you let it sit about 5 minutes it starts right back up again and runs great again. That is until it dies again.
Is the motor on my Polaris Sportsman still working?
Did an oil/filter change, had a little metal on the magnet, that happened at 8000mi, I sold the ATV w/15000mi. on and it’s still running. If you service the motors on your Polaris you’ll find that their the best part of the mach.. The clutches when they start to fail will do some strange things.
Why does my Polaris ATV run out of gas?
It acts like it runs out of gas OR the spark fails. I put a new fuel filter, fuel pump, and nice fresh gas on it. I seen on the polaris site that the spark plug cap can be bought apart from the coil. Could it possibly be a coil problem?
What should I do if I give my Polaris 500 gas?
Re: Polaris 500, starts fine but when you give it gas is… Check the exhaust lobe on the cam. these are prone to wear if oil changes are neglected. try to run it with the airbox lid removed and see if there is any change. You can’t post conmments that contain an email address.
Why does my Polaris ATV run so great?
Lol. Check your exhaust, runs great till you get too much back pressure from a plugged muffler or exhaust pipe could be kinked or bent. Too much pressure will not let enough fuel enter the cylinder and it will not have enough power to get out of its own way.
Why are the spark plugs on my Polaris 500 turning black?
It keeps dry fouling the plugs, they are jet black. It was running fine then all of a sudden started doing this. Checked spark and it looks good, any advice?
What to do when your Polaris ATV dies?
Try to drain the float bowl as soon as it dies so you can see if there’s any fuel in there.Check for spark at your plug as soon as it dies. If it’s not not fuel , electrical acts weird with a hot engine so you may have some testing to do…….
