What to do if your speedometer is not working?
First, lift the car wheels from the ground. Then, turn on the ignition and back probe the sensor with a voltmeter. Next, spin one of the drive wheels by chocking the rest. This will allow the vehicle speed sensor to rotate. Finally, check if the voltage reading is between 1 and 10 volts. If not, the sensor will need to be replaced to fix the issue.
What happens when an ignition switch wears out?

If both these wires check out good, the green/orange wire from the sensor to the cluster is either worn out or has a weak connection.
