Turn your lights on for a minute or so to drain the surface charge off then read the battery voltage again with the lights off, engine not running.

Why does my third brake light not work?
Jim, common problem. If your third brake light works either way but the rear brake lights stop working when the truck is on its a faulty ground wire to the stop lamp relay. Other things use that ground when the key is on so its not strong enough then to activate the armature within the relay.

You will get the fuse panel under the dashboard and the PDC under the hood. The brake light switch is also to be found under the dashboard and check if its plunger touches the brake pedal arm. Any problem with the fuse box and light switch will affect the brake lights. In case if the fuse is blown, change it with a new one.
