Why is condensation coming out of engine belt?

Why is condensation coming out of engine belt?

Once the engine warms up, the condensation is gone. With a new, well tensioned belt, this shouldn’t matter, however belts age and stretch, which makes them more likely to slip. or possibly just give the belt a good clean, but the first two are better solutions. Here’s an indirectly related question: mechanics.stackexchange.com/questions/543/…

Why does my belt make noise when I move pulleys?

If it is easy to move the tensioner then it needs to be replaced and the pulleys cleaned and belt replaced. -The belt can become delaminated and part of the outer fabric cover can come loose which will “flap” when it hits parts of the engine making a noise.

Can you put lubricant on a belt to stop it making noise?

REMEMBER: NEVER PUT ANY LUBRICANT ON A BELT!!! A lubricant may stop the belt from making noise temporarily but it defeats the purpose of having a belt. You need FRICTION between the belt and pulleys to transfer power.

What causes a belt to slip on a Ford truck?

-The tensioner can loose it’s tension which will cause the belts to slip. If it is easy to move the tensioner then it needs to be replaced and the pulleys cleaned and belt replaced. -The belt can become delaminated and part of the outer fabric cover can come loose which will “flap” when it hits parts of the engine making a noise.

What to do if your timing belt won’t turn over?

When you turn the key, you might hear the starter motor engage, but since the timing belt operates the crank and camshaft, it will not turn over. Obviously, if the car won’t start, a phone call to a mechanic is usually the first step.

Can a worn out timing belt cause a fire?

Engine misfires A worn out timing belt might also impact the engine’s fire rate. The timing belt is attached to pulleys that drive the crank and camshaft as we’ve indicated above. However, sometimes the belt will slip on the camshaft drive and cause one cylinder to open or close earlier than it should.

What causes oil to leak from the timing belt?

Another issue that will cause oil to leak is when the gasket between the engine block and timing cover wears out, is cracked or has been improperly installed and is pinched. Leaking oil from the timing belt cover commonly results in engine overheating as well and can prematurely wear the timing belt.

When to re-tension a manual tension drive belt?

Fluid contamination on the belt (oil, power steering fluid, antifreeze, belt dressing, brake cleaner, etc.) Belts installed on vehicles with manual tension drives should be properly tensioned during installation, and re-tensioned after 5 minutes of run-in (30 lbs. per rib).
