Why does my Yamaha Virago not have gas?
Rust developed at the bottom of the tank where the fuel is drawn from. The rust broke down into superfine particles that passed through the tanks filter and started building up in the area described above. At some point, it would close off fuel flow and the bowl would empty starving the bike for gas.
What to do when your Yamaha Virago backfires?
A COMBINATION OF INSTALLING HIGH QUALITY SPARK PLUGS (SUCH AS SPLIT FIRE) GAPPED METICULOUSLY, CLEANING THE PLUGS AND CHECKING THE GAP EVERY 1,000 MILES, AND USING AN OCTANE IMPROVER IN THE GAS HAS VIRTUALLY ELIMINATED MY PROBLEM. I SAY VIRTUALLY ELIMINATED AS I WILL STILL BACKFIRE WHEN QUICKLY BACKING OFF THE GAS IF I’M AT HIGH ALTITUDE.
How big is the fuel tank on a Yamaha Virago?
The Yamaha Virago’s reputation as a trusty cruiser is sometimes hampered by its dismal fuel holding capacity, particularly for the Virago 535, a small 12-liter tank. Virago owners are often reluctant to take long-distance moto-trips on their Virago; the tank only lasts only about 100 miles.
What causes a Yamaha XV1100 to backfire?
The XV1100 takes long-reach plugs. Can you believe it!! Happy now, although a bit dishearted about the dealer….Joe Addison. Found out that the problems that cause the backfire are definitely located in the area of the emission system (air induction system).
