Why does my road King make a noise?

Why does my road King make a noise?

Has 20,000 on it.Did a 2400 mile ride and now have a noise coming from the primary.Still runs good but I can hear the noise when running through RPMs .Please help. Automatic primary chain tensioners, in my opinion are not a good idea. They cause excessive wear on bearings, seals, sprockets and chains. Again in my opinion.

Where does the noise come from on a Harley Davidson?

If a suspension change were to cause a rubbing or a load on a part. It would be constant or, intermittence would be based on load. This makes noise only in first gear, only when decelerating (engine braking). This noise is coming from the Primary, probably the primary chain or possibly the clutch or trans.

Is there a leak in the primary on a Harley Davidson?

But the bike has zero signs of a leak anywhere and i did check the fluid level in the primary within a day or two of purchasing it and it shifts smooth as glass, even finding neutral is spot on, every time. The thought of gear whine did occur to me however, my lack of experience with Sportsters is the reason i made the post.

What to do if your primary makes noise?

Try looking in self help tips transmission, clutch, primary (drive train) tip #43 “automatic chain tensioner adjustment”. Basically three rapid accel/decells in rapid succession, this got rid of the noise in my primary on my 2010 Limited. Good Luck !
