Why does my Polaris Ranger have a hot start problem?
Swapped o-rings on the OEM/new regulator. Like magic, 46psi fuel pressure. For curiosity sake I tried old/new pump/regulator combinations and found out that the root cause of the low fuel pressure which resulted in the hot start problem was the OEM regulator.
How do you start a Polaris hard starting?
Use a center punch to go up through the center of the domed washer bolt hole and put a punch mark in the frame. I then drilled the holes with a 1/4″ drill, then opened them up with a 3/8″ drill…then remove the domed washer, put a rivit nut on the mandrel, put it up into the hole in the frame, and pinch it up.

Turn key, sounds like it cant overcome the compression, turn key to bump the starter 2 or 3 times then it will start right up. Will start fine the next 2 or 3 times then the next time it does the same thing. Just wondering if you found the fix or by replacing the starter fixed the problem.

Now, if we go through water and get the it good and wet underneath, seems to stay cooler longer. Also, when checked the water pump, we removed all of the anti-freeze (Polaris 60/40). Just put straight water in for the time being, it didn’t run any cooler, but it did cool off faster at idle.

Re: Polaris 500, starts fine but when you give it gas is… Check the exhaust lobe on the cam. these are prone to wear if oil changes are neglected. try to run it with the airbox lid removed and see if there is any change. You can’t post conmments that contain an email address.
