Why does my ml270 gearbox keep locking up?
Check the plug on the gear as it can send oil up to the ecu. If the gearbox keeps locking up it means its not happy and eventually it will be permanently locked and only a computer can unlock. A friend of mine has a 53 reg ML270 and I told him to get it serviced before there are problems.

The STAR machine picked it up straight away. If you’re anywhere near Milton Keynes get over to Autoclass and they’ll give you an honest opinion. As above, have it plugged in to STAR and stop the guesswork. It’s in limp-home mode for a reason. When this happened to my W164 320 CDI it turned out to be the turbo vanes sticking.
