Why does my car Rev at 5000 rpm?
There is program in the computer not to let the engine rev past 5000 RPM when in neutral or at stand still. This is done to prevent the pistons from going faster than the speed of sound and damaging the connecting rods.Or a more trivial application is to prevent people from dropping the clutch at redline.
What kind of service does a 2003 CRV need?
Have a 2003 CRV w/ 103K miles. Have done recommended maintenance (s). Recently had service. (spark plugs, gasket, power steering fluid change) Now notice knocking sound when in drive, but brakes applied. I.e. hear noise at stop signs, red lights. Seems to also occur when steering wheel is hard over.
What does it mean when your engine revs up?
If your engine revs up as you press down on the accelerator but your vehicle doesn’t accelerate as per usual or as you would expect, it’s a troublesome sign that can lead to a full-blown transmission failure. Transmission slipping, or gears slipping, is one of the most common transmission problems on both manual and automatic transmissions.
What should I do if my transmission shifts hard?
Clean or change this spring and put all the components back together to reassemble the transmission. If you have not changed the fluid and replaced the filter already, do that while changing these parts. Otherwise, just keep the filter in a bag while changing the o-ring or spring and then re-install it.

Why does my CRV shift to 3 too early?
3. Could it be that the computer is telling the trans to shift to 3 too early and the shuttering I feel is simply just the drive train system straining for a moment as the gear is not correct for the speed/acceleration? Had the same issue very recently. Took it to the dealer they changed all fluids.
