Why does my car make a squealing sound when I reverse?
Sometimes a squealing sound could be something else, but a tell-tale sign of a brake squealer is that the sound will go away once you depress the brake. You are hearing this in reverse because the car is going slowly in reverse.
What makes a high pitch noise in reverse?
Has the noise just started? reverse normally makes a high pitch noise, espically at Smokey and the Bandit speeds. Maybe a heat shield, motor-trans moves just a bit different in reverse than in drive. Or is it more like a belt squeal? I am thinking along the same lines as oldschool. Did the OP just buy this car? Did the OP ever own cars previously?
Why do my brakes squeal in both forward and reverse?
If your vehicle is not new or does not have many miles on the brakes, then the first thing you should check is your wear tabs. If your brakes squeal in both forward and reverse, these may be the source of the problem.
What kind of noise does a car make when going forward?
The car makes a high pitched sound when the car is moving in reverse. Stepping on the clutch does not seem to make much difference and the sound stops when the car is stopped. The car does not make a noise (at least that I am aware of) when going forward, although there is a slight noise sometimes when I am going forward and turning the wheel.

Do you make a squealing noise when backing up?
Thanks for your reply. No, they do not squeal any other time – only when backing up out of the garage. (I don’t know if they would squeal backing up elsewhere because didn’t test this). They do not squeal when braking while going forward – even in the morning before the car/brakes warm up.

Where does the noise come from in reverse?
Reverse in hybrids is electric only. You might as well hear MG in the back doing its job. It does whir some… This is the hybrid forum ! And the noise, as I said, also comes from the front, when in drive. Maybe it is louder in the back ?
Why does my MX-5 Miata make a vibrating noise?
Some noise is common with semi-metallic brake pads. Be certain to use new brake hardware (clips and springs) when replacing brake pads. Changing to a different brand or compound of pads may help. A vibrating noise may be caused by calipers not sliding properly on the mounting brackets.
Where can I buy a reverse Squeak squeak replacement?
Most auto parts stores sell both OE replacements as well as heavy-duty replacements. I suggest buying the HD for the extra measure of durability. The hardest part if you’re doing them yourself is pressing the old, factory-sealed u-joints out of the driveshaft yokes.

What to do when you hear a brake noise?
Pick up some disk brake caliper lube on Amazon. Apply only to the sliding parts of caliper and NOT to the pad friction material. The grease should lubricate the caliper slides and help eliminate the noise. After applying the grease, you should investigate further if you still hear it at the same frequency or level as before.
