Same thing here (E36 325i 92). 6 weeks ago the dreadful yellow indicator came on. Restarted the car and all was fine until 4 days ago the same thing happened. Again; restarting the car did the trick (for the time being). 1. Still got 50K for my next ATF change…Does this rule out fluid issues? 2.
