Why does my bike idle but wont rev up?
Bad news is that the carb job yesterday hasnt done alot of good, the good news is that it seems to rev now but the bad news is it wont idle so well and now when you rev it the revs stick on. Say, you rev to 3-4 k and loosen the throttle – the revs stay there. Theres quite a bit of white smoke from the exhausts too, and it also leaks fuel on prime .
Why does my bike not Rev at 1300 rpm?
Its a head scratcher for sure! On my bike, if I block the fly-weights so that the ignition is fixed at fully retarded, I can still rev the engine to as high as 2500 rpm. Since you cannot go above 1300 rpm, that rules out your TCI ignition not advancing, as a cause of your problem. This points to the carbs as likely suspects.
Can a bike run and idle at the same time?
It runs perfectly and idles with choke off within seconds….A thermal sensor shows that both plugs, and cylinder heads are functioning at the same temp. The engine will run and idle on only 1 cylinder at a time if I want.

It will idle all day long at idle, even a very slow idle…but when you hit the throttle….nuthin……blaaaaaaaaaa then it will idle perfectly again. I am running K N aftermarket air breathers. same prob on or off

The warrior idles fine. I’ve adjusted to air mix screw back and forth. It changes the idol but doesn’t seem to improve things when I try to rev it up. 2.25 turns seems to be the sweet spot, as far as idol. The needle is where zoom put it.

What to do if your bike Idles when trying to accelerate?
Clean the carb,run some sea foam through it,if that doesn’t work,try your timing.if all else fails it could be a sticky valve and or a bent valve ( I ran a bike on a bent valve for 2 months before it blew) How do you check the valves. I’m not a mechanic but I can do the small stuff. Lol I have a 89 warrior. I put it in the shed during deer season.

If the engine idles fine, it pretty much eliminates the possibility of an “air leak”. The slightest air leak would upset idle mixture and cause stalling or high idle speed that cannot be adjusted with the throttle stop screw. I’d look at some simple stuff first, like the spark plug – which might fire OK at idle, but misfires under throttle?

If the bike does not idle smoothly or takes a long time to settle back down to idle speed, and you’ve already cleaned the carburetor, you may have an airleak. Airleaks can be caused by a bad seal in the engine, or in the intake/carburetor joints.
