Why does my 4L60E slip in Manual 2?
Not a slight hint of a slip. Manual 2 forces line pressure to 180psi or better. This increase in line pressure allows better holding capacity to a distressed part. Also, when in ‘D’, if I take off as if I was doing a 0-60, it will shift 1-2-3 perfectly.
What kind of transmission does a GM 4L60 have?
The 4L60, along with many transmissions of its generation, was controlled by a hydraulic system. This means that a series of valve pressures made the transmission shift gears. GM made the jump to electronic shifting control with the 4L60E ( E lectronic shifting control).
Can a 4L60E go into second gear?
Detail: when in ‘D’ it will go through first gear fine, shift to second, get to about 2200-2500 rpm and then it will act as if it went into neutral, when either I let up on the gas or continue to 4500rpm it will shift to third gear. I haven’t tried it on highway to get to fourth.
What does electronic shifting control on GM 4L60E mean?
This means that a series of valve pressures made the transmission shift gears. GM made the jump to electronic shifting control with the 4L60E ( E lectronic shifting control). Keep on scrolling down to read more about electronic shifting and its many advantages.
What kind of gears does a 6L80 / 90E have?
The 6L80/90E transmission consists of five clutch sets (1234, 35R, 456, 26 and LR), a planetary set, and a low clutch sprag, which provides six forward gears and reverse. The hydraulic system primarily consists of a vane-type pump, two control valve bodies, a converter housing, and a case.
Why is there no reverse gear on a 4L60E?
4L60E No 2nd Gear This could be caused by a broken drive shell. If this is the case, there will probably be no reverse gear at all as well.
The 4L60, along with many transmissions of its generation, was controlled by a hydraulic system. This means that a series of valve pressures made the transmission shift gears. GM made the jump to electronic shifting control with the 4L60E ( E lectronic shifting control).
What should I do if my Chevy 4L60E is not working?
Try a different PCM, and check for chafing where the cables come out of the PCM. Secondly, put a line pressure gauge ($55 shipped on Ebay, or visit a local trans shop) on the pressure test port and go for a drive to verify proper line pressure.
