The first Jeep Wrangler, the YJ, appeared in 1986 (as a 1987 model), replacing the CJ-7 after its ten-year run. Despite the name change, the Wrangler shared much with the outgoing CJ-7, including the same 93.4-inch wheelbase. The YJ was far more civilized, however, with additional comfort and refinement.
