Where is the water pump on a Nissan Maxima?
They tell me the water pump has a weep channel about 5 inches below the thermostat housing just above the oil pan. I could not find it. Mine is a 96 Maxima GLE w/ about 75K miles. First off, Stop Leak is the worst thing you can use for nissan coolent systems. Flush that stuff out right away, it clogs up the heater core!!

I have a 1996 Nissan Maxima 3L coolent leak coming from the front of the engine, coming from under the alternator mount same as you had. The leak appears to be coming from under the alternator mount.

The water pump is located in the timming cover area. There are 2 small black covers on the front timming cover. One to remove the tensioner. After you remove the tensioner then the other cover is to remove the water pump.
