Where is the idle screw on a motorcycle?
Find the idle screw by looking near the base of the float bowl for a spring. The float bowl is basically a miniature gas tank that sits on the bottom of the carburetor. Look around the float bowl for a screw connected to a 1–2 in (2.5–5.1 cm) coil. This is the idle screw.
Where is the idle speed knob on a triumph?
Hope you get it sorted soon. Just below the left side carb. you’ll see a black knurled knob. Turn it in (clockwise) to increase the idle speed and vice versa. Mine idles at about 700-800rpm. You’re used to a scooter,I think, and so perhaps not quite so familiar with a clutch yet?
When to knock the choke off a motorcycle?
If you knock it off too soon the bike will die as you open the throttle, you’ll get to know the spot on the road where the motor is warm and happy with no choke and knock it off at that spot automatically. Reddit! Last edited by oothef; 22 Jul 2010 at 08:33.
When to adjust the idle on a motorcycle?
You can adjust the idle screw while the bike is off, but it’s better to do it when the bike is on so that the engine can adjust slowly to the change while there’s gas running through it. If you’re doing this when it’s colder than 40 °F (4 °C) out, let the bike run for 10-15 minutes instead.

How do you tune a Mikuni carburetor at idle?
Place another piece of tape on the throttle grip and draw a line (while the throttle is at idle) straight across from one piece of tape to the other. When these two lines are lined up, the engine will be idling. Now open the throttle to full throttle and draw another line directly across from it on the throttle housing.
How do you know the idle RPM of a motorcycle?
Check your idle RPM on the tachometer if you have one. If your bike has an RPM gauge, called a tachometer, take a look at the gauge while the bike is in idle. If the RPM is already in the acceptable idle range, you don’t need to change the idle settings with the screw.
