Once selected to become a Special Agent with CID, Soldiers will attend 16 weeks of specialized training as part of the CID Special Agent Course at the U.S. Army Military Police School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Course Description: The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Special Agent Course (CIDSAC) is a 15-week course taught by the Military Police Investigations Division (MPID), at the U.S. Army Military Police School (USAMPS) and is an accredited course by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation Board.

Do CID agents deploy?
CID Special Agents provide felony level crime investigative support to local commanders around the world. CID Special Agents must also possess battlefield skills and deploy on short notice to provide direct support to Army divisions and corps.
Does Army CID wear uniform?
When deployed to certain combat environments, and during other special times and circumstances, CID agents wear Army Combat Uniforms, replacing rank insignia with subdued versions of officer “U.S.” collar brass and sometimes wearing “CID” brassards on their upper left arms.

Can a civilian Join Army CID?
Civilian criminal investigators in CID do not investigate general crimes, but are specialists in areas such as investigating computer system intrusions, polygraphy, operations, sexual assault, investigative policy and major contract procurement fraud. The full performance for all positions is GS-13.
