When does the engine shut off in a truck?

You can check this by taking the air cleaner off making sure the choke is open and just shut the engine off it you see a bit of smoke or haze from the carb after its off you know somewhere raw fuel is leaking down in the intake. As far as cheap tests
Why is my truck not running when I leave work?
Truck wouldn’t stay running when leaving work today. It starts then dies after a couple of seconds. Had it towed to a friends where we pulled out the Chilton book and began troubleshooting.

Why does my engine shut down when I go up a hill?
I can drive it as long as i dont accelerate and go 65 but when i come to hill or give it a bit of throttle it shuts down fuel pressure gauge shows 60 lbs at 40 mph low rpms but if i give it gas any at all it drops to 5 lbs & engine wont respond till i let off the pedal also it starts stumbling trying to stall !

Ended up being a faulty crank position sensor. Its used to fire right back up. But now when it shuts off it does not crank back at all. Also whenever you turn the key to on the fuel pump doesn’t cut on. But everything else will work. Check to see if you have spark and fuel pressure.

Why does my GM Truck shut down while driving?
At a dead stop. It would crank over, but not start. Ran the battery dead trying to crank it. My dad came to help, charged the battery, and it started right up. It sounds wierd but this is what its doing.

Just because its a new pump doesn’t mean it ok it could still be faulty and the speed when changing could cause the pump to be slower than it should causing a shut down. Also the filter may be getting blocked with the extra demand of fuel. When the did the rebuild did they empty and re fill the fuel tank with your old fuel?
