I was just offered this for my truck, no pics yet, 1979 403 olds matching numbers 400 trans solid car daily driver. What ca yall tell me about a 403 Olds and why did Pontiac use them? My limited knowledge is that they had weak journals/webs, something like that. Were more difficult to build up than the pontiac 400’s as far as hp. Less torque.

Pontiac did not make the drivetrain in my Trans Am. It is not a true Pontiac engine despite being installed in the car when it was built in Norwood, Ohio. Pontiac borrowed my motor from Oldsmobile. Is that such a bad thing? The Olds 403 engine gets no respect because of its cross-breed origins.
