When did I change the fuel filter on my Silverado?
Hello I have an 05 crewcab silverado that i purcased about 5 months ago. So this is the first time i have changed the fuel filter since I have owed the truck.

I changed the fuel filter Assy. and plugged in the water sensor, cranked and ran normally. Went out a few days later, cranked it and it died and gave water in fuel warning (fuel is clean), couldn’t get the plug back off so cut the wires. Fuel in water message went away but now truck will not start.

Click to expand… The WIF sensor works like this— there is a plastic float with a magnet that can move up and down on the stem. When there is water in the filter, the float is suppose to rise on the stem, and the magnet is suppose to close the reed switch– [which is mounted inside the WIF stem].
Where is the water separator on a Duramax Turbo?
Depress the two release tabs on the wiring connector located on the water separator mounted on the bottom of the fuel filter. Pull the wire downward and out of the water separator.
How to replace the fuel filter on a Duramax 6.6 Turbo?
Loosen the black bleeder screw on top of the fuel filter housing with a flat-head screwdriver three turns. Pump the round pump handle on top of the filter housing until fuel starts to seep from the bleeder screw. Tighten the screw. Start the engine and check for leaks. Tighten the filter further with the filter wrench, if necessary.
