What should I do my first time at a skatepark?
- Be polite, and courteous. When ever you go somewhere new (new skatepark, new school, new job, etc.)
- Don’t vandalize. Not only is vandalism illegal, but damaging skateparks is a surefire way to piss off the locals.
- Don’t wax.
- Don’t “Snake”
- Don’t hang-out on obstacles.
- Ready Position.
- Don’t be A baby.
- No “infinite lines”
What should a skatepark have?
In a recent poll of our Instagram followers, skaters ranked their must-have skatepark features in the following order: #1 Bowls, #2 Ramps, #3 Curbs, #4 Rails. So when in doubt, look for parks with tons of ramps and bowls, and make a secondary priority of curbs and rails.
Is it okay to skate after eating?
What to eat? You want to make sure you provide your muscles with fuel (to make ENERGY) before you skate because when we skate the stomach does not work as fast. Eat meals three to four hours before skating.
Where should a beginner skate?
A smooth, lesser-used sidewalk or bike bath, or an empty street or parking lot are all great places to learn how to ride your skateboard. If the sidewalk has huge cracks all along it, we’d recommend finding somewhere smoother. It’s best to learn the basics of pushing and riding around before going to a skatepark.
What makes a good skate ramp?
The quality of the design is what makes a skatepark well-known. A smaller skatepark that has lots of interesting and challenging things to skate will be much more popular than a larger skatepark that doesn’t capture the skater’s imagination. It’s not the size of the skatepark, it’s how well it’s designed.

Snaking occurs when you drop in on another skateboarder while they are in the middle of their run. It is the single largest cause of collisions. If you accidentally snake someone, get out of their way as soon as possible and apologize.
