How to repair a frayed bike gear cable?
Method 1 of 2: Repairing Frayed Gear Wires 1 Squeeze the frayed cable where it comes out of the derailleur with pliers. 2 Twist the pliers clockwise while pulling them towards the tip of the cable. 3 Slide a bike cable end cap onto the tip of the cable. 4 Crimp the cable end cap in at least 2 places using wire cutters.
