What is YICS Yamaha?
YICS stands for the Yamaha Induction Control System and is a performance and fuel-efficiency-enhancing cylinder head design that promotes better and more complete combustion chamber “filling” and “mixing”, and thus better combustion efficiency via a cast-in, full-length, 10mm diameter chamber within the back top edge …
What is YICS tool?
The YICS tool seals that tube in the spots between the carbs, allowing you to adjust each carb individually.
How does YEIS work?
YEIS stands for Yamaha Energy Induction System and it first appeared on the YZs and ITs back in the 80’s. It is a method to boost low RPM power by increasing the reed to carb volume. Theoretically it can be designed to boost power at high RPM also.
What does a moose boost bottle do?
In essence, a properly designed boost bottle is like a mini supercharger, providing not only a place for excess fuel to go, but an extra fuel supply when the vacuum of the engine goes in the correct direction. Its effects are felt primarily in the mid-range.
Do boost bottles work 2 stroke?

When did Yamaha start using the yics system?
This chamber is sealed with a small hex-headed bolt (“plug”) and sealing washer at each end, and within the chamber has 4 individual tiny holes (or “sub-intake ports”, as Yamaha calls them) that lead up into the cylinder head’s main intake passageway. YICS made it’s first appearance on various 1981 models, and was used until 1986.
What’s the difference between a yics and non yics bike?
Non-YICS models have the oil pump covers with only the YAMAHA wording (or no wording at all) cast into the cover. YICS -engined bikes also use a valve cover that has the word YICS cast into the top surface, while non-YICS models are blank or are cast “YAMAHA” (or “YAMAHA 5VALVE” on 700-X/750-X models) on the valve cover.
How does the yics system work in a car?
“The YICS consists of 2 separate chambers, each connected, to a port on each cylinder just behind the intake valve. As the piston moves down on the intake stroke, the cylinder fills with a fresh air/fuel charge. A vacuum is also created in the YICS chamber at the same time.
When did the yeis engine system come out?
2-stroke, energy-saving YEIS engine system (1980) On June 30, 1980, Yamaha announced two new energy-saving engine system technologies that it had developed independently: the Yamaha Induction Control System (YICS), a technology for 4-stroke engines, and the Yamaha Energy Induction System (YEIS) for 2-stroke engines.
