Methenamine and sodium salicylate is a combination medicine that is used to relieve symptoms of bladder infection or irritation, such as painful or burning urination, or feeling an urgent or more frequent need to urinate. This medicine may help slow the progress of a bladder infection.

Who should not take Cystex?
Do not give this medicine to a child or teenager with a fever, flu symptoms, or chickenpox. Salicylates can cause Reye’s syndrome, a serious and sometimes fatal condition in children.
Can Cystex and azo be taken together?
No interactions were found between Azo Urinary Pain Relief and Cystex. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist. Always consult your healthcare provider.
Is methenamine an anti-inflammatory?
Methenamine targets undesirable bacterial growth associated with UTIs, and sodium salicylate addresses bladder discomfort associated with a UTI through its anti-inflammatory activity. To support the activity of the antibacterial agent, the tablet contains acidifying excipients like benzoic acid and is enteric coated.
