What is Pukani rock?
Pukani Rock – Fiji. Interesting shaped rock with many small cavities offering refuge for smaller fish and reef animals. A good coverage of different colours of coralline algae make this a highly desirable rock. As Pukani rock is lighter than other varieties you get more volume per kg.
What is Fiji rock?
Used as a reef base in tropical salt-water aquariums, live rock is an important source of income for many Fijians. Live rock is actually dead coral or rock covered with coralline algae — pink- or purple-coloured algae found growing on rocky substrata in all of the world’s oceans.
Does Liverock grow?
They have the highest yield of beneficial bacteria and coralline algae on them. They have a minimum of 2 years of growth and almost always contain corals, sponges, filter feeders, and some amazingly cool invertebrates as well. Our Premium Live Rock never disappoints.
How much is a gallon of Pukani rock?
A general guideline for Pukani Dry Live Rock, we suggest 2/3 pounds of rock per gallon of display tank volume and may vary depending on your overall goal for the aquascape.
Why is it called Live Rock?
Live rock is rock from the ocean that has been introduced into a saltwater aquarium. The many forms of micro and macroscopic marine life that live on and inside of the rock, which acts as an ideal habitat, give it the name “live rock”.
Can you leave live rock out of water?
You don’t want to take them out and let them totally dry out for hours at a time, but as long as you keep them damp, the life on them should be fine. (That’s why suppliers are able to ship most live rock damp, or wrapped in wet cloth, rather than in water.)
Will coral grow on my live rock?
Live rock harbors a wide variety of corals, algae, sponges, and other invertebrates, when they are collected. Corals added to the aquarium later will often become attached to the rock.
