What kind of oil does Polaris Sportsman use?
Hello I recently changed the transmision fluid in my 04 sportsman 500. I was almost positive it was gear oil so I used Amsoil severe gear 75w-90. I now know that the Polaris oil wasn’t that thick. It has been opperating just fine but was wondering if I should change it our would it just be fine. Thanks for your input in advance Austin
Is the Polaris Sportsman the same as the 500?
Because the 500 has no rear gear case (no rearend) the CV joints to the wheels come directly out of the transmission housing to the wheels. This is the transmission/gearcase. The 400 and 335 polaris Sportsman should be the same as the 500.
How do you change demand Drive in a Polaris Sportsman?
Insert one end of the clear tube into the fill bolt opening, and attach the other to the hand pump. Use the hand pump to fill the gearcase with Demand Drive fluid. NOTE: The tank holds about 10 ounces, or roughly a third of the bottle. You’ll know it’s full when the fluid starts to run out of the opening.
