Why is my service side detection system not working?
I am getting the “service side detection system” message whenever I start my car, and the blindspot lights, cross-traffic detection etc. do not function at all. I took the vehicle into my dealership and waited four hours only to be told that this was a “nationwide” problem and the part was unavailable and on back order.
When do I start my car service side detection?
I have a 2015 Acadia Denali with 66,000 miles. I am getting the “service side detection system” message whenever I start my car, and the blindspot lights, cross-traffic detection etc. do not function at all.
Is there a service bulletin for the side detection system?
Apparently GM has a program in place for the side detection modules. The special service bulletin is #N172097060 . If your Impala has less than 80K on the clock you should be good to go. These modules are a common failure on the Acadia also.
Where are the sensors on a side detection system?
I see now that you are working on the Side Detection System, not a common option in 2013. The SDS uses two radar (expensive) sensors located behind, not in, the rear bumper. To get to the two corner mounted sensors you must remove the rear bumper cover first. Then unplug the module and slid it out of the bracket.
