What is a narrowband gauge?
GlowShift Narrowband Air/Fuel Ratio Gauges help you closely monitor your engine’s air to fuel mixture by displaying Rich, Optimal and Lean values with the option of digital or analog readings.
Why do I need an AFR gauge?
You need it if you don’t wanna blow the motor due to running lean. Every other gauge is optional. A Wideband gauge is a must and install it right in front of your face so you always know what’s going on with the A/F ratio when the car is on boost.
Do you need an air-fuel ratio gauge?
The Wideband O2 air/fuel ratio UEGO gauge is a must if you want to maximize your engine’s power and safety. When tuning an engine, accurate air/fuel ratio data is critical because running with too rich of an AFR can cause a loss of power, and running a lean AFR can result in serious engine damage.
Can you tune with narrowband?
Therefore a narrowband will be useful for tuning cruise Air/Fuel Ratio (AFR) only as long as you’re tuning for 14.7:1 air/fuel ratio. Likewise at cruise you may not want to tune for 14.7:1, maybe you want to ‘lean burn’ chasing better fuel economy at cruise and you want to tune to 15.5:1 or even a bit leaner possibly.
How do you install a narrowband gauge?
- • Narrowband Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge. • Power Harness.
- To install the weld-in bung, drill a hole into the exhaust using a 15/16” size drill bit. Once drilled, weld the bung to the hole.
- Plug the power harness into the back of the gauge.
- Locate a clean, reliable grounding source and connect the Black Wire from the gauge.
What is the point of AFR gauge?
An air-fuel ratio meter monitors the air–fuel ratio of an internal combustion engine. Also called air–fuel ratio gauge, air–fuel meter, or air–fuel gauge, it reads the voltage output of an oxygen sensor, sometimes also called AFR sensor or lambda sensor.
How do you fit AFR gauge?
How to Connect to an Air Fuel Ratio Gauge
- Move your shifter into the “Park” position.
- Look for a location that you want the air fuel gauge to go to.
- Route the wires through the firewall hole in the dash.
- Strip the end of the power wire from your gauge.
- Look in your vehicle’s manual for your O2 sensor, or oxygen sensor.
What is the point of an air-fuel ratio gauge?
The purpose of an AFR gauge is to measure the air to fuel ratio of your engine. There are two air fuel gauge options to choose from: a narrow band and a wideband AFR.
