What does transmission over temp mean on 2007 Grand Cherokee?
My 2007 Grand Cherokee 5.7 indicates “Transmission over temp” It happened just after it was serviced and got new transmission oil. The oil level is correct and the transmission works fine. It also came on while the car idle and not even moving. The computer was reset and cleared of any fault codes but it comes on.

Its the cars anti theft system which is triggered by a worn out key or a glitch in the system, had to have my 2007 jeep grand Cherokee towed this morning, an all they had to do was reprogram my anti theft system. Also made a new key with the remote (only way it will work since it has a required chip in it to start the jeep) just for precaution.

The 3.0 CRD and 5.7 has the same Hydraulic fan. They have it to increase cooling while towing. So a signal gets sent from the Front Control Module. It checks, Engine Coolant temperature, the Aircon system pressure and finaly the Transmission temperature. The fan increases/decreases speed depending on these temps.

Read from someone else that measured all his ATF drained from his 2008 WK 3.7L and equated to 6 quarts and he got it properly measured at the dealer after he did the job. So that’s a considerable difference to the 7.4 quarts stated in Frangos attachment here.
