What does the IPR valve do on a DT466?
DT466 / DT466E Navistar / International IPR Valve (1994-2004) The Injection Pressure Regulator valve is responsible for controlling the pressure in the high-pressure oil system which in turn operates the fuel injectors.
How does an IPR valve work?
The IPR controls HPOP outlet pressure in a range between 450 and 3,000 psi. An electrical signal to the solenoid creates a magnetic field which applies a variable force on the poppet to control pressure. With the engine off, the valve spool is held to the right by the return spring and the drain ports are closed.

How does the high pressure oil pump work on a DT466?
The high pressure oil pump that operates the injectors is fed oil by the lube pump through a reservoir in the front gear cover. When you start a DT466E after an oil change it will start and run for a few seconds and quit then after a few seconds of cranking it will start again and run the oil pressure gauge will start to move at the same time.
What kind of oil to use in DT466?
If you cannot find a CI 4 As an alternative you can use 10% 20/50 engine oil or 1/2 gallon of Lucas to every ten gallons of oil if you have higher miles. I would also check the injectors, the ICP sensor and the cam crank sensor.
Why does my MaxxForce DT have low power?
