What does Gaviscon Advance contain?
Each 10 mL of oral suspension contains sodium alginate 1000 mg and potassium bicarbonate 200 mg as the active ingredients. The other ingredients are calcium carbonate, carbomer, methyl (E218) and propyl (E216) hydroxybenzoates, sodium saccharin, sodium hydroxide, peppermint flavour and purified water.

Is there an alternative to Gaviscon Advance?
Are there other medicines similar to Gaviscon? Yes, Acidex and Peptac are similar to Gaviscon. These medicines are reflux suppressants. They work in the same way as Gaviscon, by reducing acid in your stomach and preventing excess acid escaping into your food pipe.
What is the difference between Gaviscon Extra Strength and Gaviscon Advance?

Liquid antacids usually work faster/better than tablets or capsules. This medication works only on existing acid in the stomach. It does not prevent acid production.
Can Gaviscon heal the esophagus?
We found that Gaviscon decreased postprandial acid exposure in the distal esophagus and increased the nadir pH of the refluxate. The effect persisted for at least 2.5 hours. Gaviscon did not, however, decrease the number of reflux events or the proximal extent of reflux within the esophagus.
Can I take Gaviscon if I am taking omeprazole?
