What does BVSV do?
Not only is it a mouthful of letters, it’s an important piece. This BVSV controls the vacuum to the EGR valve (it will not let vacuum flow through unless the coolant is at normal operating temp).
What is a bimetallic vacuum switching valve?
Bimetal Vacuum Switching Valve (BVSV) Repair Guide Drain the coolant from the radiator into a suitable container. The VSV allows only a small amount of air to by-pass the closed throttle valve when it is open, increasing engine speed by about 100 rpm when energized.

Where is the charcoal canister on a BVSV?
Its mounted on the water bypass outlet at the back of the intake. It sends gas fumes from the charcoal canister to the air intake chamber to be burned. Mine has part number 90925-05047 stamped on it. Since its on the water bypass outlet, maybe thats coolant leaking? when the coolant gets hot enough it opens the valve to vent the charcoal canister.
Can a bad BVSV cause a vacuum leak?
Looking at some vacuum line diagrams it seems like the BVSV could be causing a vacuum leak in my system. The engine (3VZE) idles with a lope and will eventually die. I can’t get a real good look at the BVSV right now, its way too cold outside right now lol.
